Baby Shower & Wedding http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=245 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=245#comments Sun, 02 May 2010 07:08:53 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=245 Well, for those of you who are interested today was the baby shower for Nicholas. It was a lot of fun, and he got a lot of stuff that he really needed, which was great. My sister made a beautiful diaper cake for a decoration which I will post pictures of on the page dedicated to Nicholas’ and maybe I will also try out the photo feature here on tumblr for them.
Secondly, the next thing on our list of things to do is to get ready for your wedding this summer. We are getting ready to order some invitations to send out soon. We also are trying to figure out everything for getting people up here. Also, good news, I don’t have to buy a wedding dress. Come to find out the one my sister had fits me perfectly:) So, that was exciting news.

Feed Reading Blog for CITS220 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=243 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=243#comments Sat, 01 May 2010 08:57:29 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=243 I have actually used RSS feeds for awhile now. I have set both apple and digg RSS feeds to download into apple mail. The feature is great for me. It allows me to view new things that are on the sites without actually going to them. Then once I see if there is something I would actually like to see the whole story of then I click on the link to go to the actual page. I feel that they are a way better option then going to veiw every page to see if they have updated the site with anything new and interesting, especially on our slow sattelite internet connection here in Coffman Cove. I feel that Feeds are something that I have a very good grasp on, as they are a tool that I love to take advantage of and use often. They are pretty simple to use, and I have no unresolved questions about the topic.

The Music Alley Weblog Reveiw http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=241 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=241#comments Sat, 01 May 2010 07:46:13 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=241 Music:)Alley Blog is a technology blog in which it tells about the recent technology news that has to deal with music. I found that Music:)Alley was a very interesting Blog…. One in which I may continue to read. The post that made the blog catch my attention is this one Lala to Close - Itunes.com to Open . I found this one very interesting as the subject matter was about itunes, which, is a tool I use very frequently. If the recent purchase of the lala site by apple actually brings what rumor is saying then it would definately be something I would pay for a subscription of.
This blog didn’t really have any political nature to it that I saw. This blog does site sources of which it used… Some of the sources which it used I noticed were articles from journalists. I found that this blog mostly differs from the local news we have here where I live, because we don’t really have an entertainment section. So things of this nature are the topics which we must either read on the internet, in magazines, or watch on tv to hear. I didn’t find anything I did not like about this blog I liked the way in which it was laid out as well as the way the information was presented.

Reveiw of Moonbattery Blog http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=239 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=239#comments Sat, 01 May 2010 07:23:26 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=239 The general idea or purposeMoonBattery Blog is making fun of political figures or political actions. For example my favorite post which Ithought was pretty funny myself is You’re So Vain a post poking fun at Nancy Pelosi all in return for the support of the National Healthcare. This blog has a very anti-democratic blog as they make fun of the government a lot in it, and are very against the actions of the government.
This blog I found to be very funny and not serious at, which, I would say makes it very different than any local news which I have ever seen. Local news is usually very serious, and to the point so that they can get the information out to their readers/veiwers. This blog had sources for the information which they posted within their blog for every one of their postings which I veiwed. I found this blog to be very entertaining, however, I didn’t like how everything seemed so unserious to this writer. Even things that shouldn’t of had any humor in them, the writer made into a joke.

Hit & Run: Reason Magazine Blog Reveiw http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=236 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=236#comments Fri, 30 Apr 2010 07:09:36 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=236 I choose to write about the blog Hit&Run , this is a blog about different laws that are being enforced. It shares how they are affecting us. My favorite blog post on Hit and Run was Driving While White . It was a great blog about the new laws that Arizona is enforcing on illegal immigrants. It gave his personal experience to help everyone understand what this law was really going to mean for everyone.
I don’t really know as if this blog really takes a particular political stand. However, it sure does give us an opinion. The blog also uses many different sources including some personal experiences as a source which really I thought helped me as a reader understand what was going on. I thought it was a great aspect of the blog. I thought the information presented in this blog was much more creative than those reports written within our local newspaper. The blog caught my attention and wanted me to keep reading. I wanted to find out about what was going on.
Although I thought this blog was great, and it caught my attention very easily. I did think that the blogs design itself could have been slightly better. I thought the design kind of was a little bit of everywhere, and the blog was too random.

Quick update on the “Family” http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=234 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=234#comments Fri, 30 Apr 2010 06:13:32 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=234 Yes, were a family now… All were missing is the marriage, and well that is coming in July… July 9th to be exact. Were getting ready to order the invitations, and get addresses and everything together to get those sent off to everyone…. Hopefully, we don’t forget anyone. We also are safely home with Nicholas, and we are taking in for his two month check up here next week! His baby shower is on Saturday, and last week he had his photos taken for his birth announcements. So we are also in the process of waiting for those to arrive so that we can send those out to family and friends. So, we are going to be busy with addressing, and we will be spending lots of money on stamps, stamps, stamps. Well, anyways, thats all for now, just wanted to give you all a quick update. Oh yeah, and if you want to look at his pictures that he had taken for the birth announcements, you can veiw them at Photos Also, I have not updated his page lately, but I am planning on doing so here within the next few days…. We were having problems with our internet. So, be expencting those on http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=231 What do you think? Are bloggers and journalists the same, and should they have the same rights? Should bloggers have the same protection that a journalist has? I think that although the two are much alike there is a difference. A blogger could be anyone off the road, as a journalist is someone who works for a news reporting agency. Although the two may write about the same topics, the journalist has the right to go to special events and interveiws to get information about the topic. The journalist also has an extra sheild protection, preventing them from having to share where they received information for their news reports. Considering all these things about bloggers and journalists I have to lean towards believing that a blogger should remain to not have the same rights as a journalist. If the United States were to allow bloggers to be protected in the same way that a journalist is, this would give anyone on the street the right to say, “I am a blogger, I don’t have to share where I recieved my information.” Which, I believe would soon become a bigger and bigger issue. It would give any blogger the right to write anything about anyone, true or not and be covered. Within politics this would have the biggest impacts.
Consider a few scenarios:
Scenario One: a reporter for a major newspaper reports, using anonymous sources, on a falsified government document. When the government agency attempts to force him to reveal his source, he refuses… and is protected by a “shield law” that he does not have to reveal those sources. A blogger breaks the exact same story at the exact same time. Should he receive the same protection? Would your answer change if you found out the blogger had been running a news and politics blog for years? What if she’d never posted a news story before but stumbled onto this one?
I think that in this case the blogger should still not be covered under the same protection. Although the blogger has been doing the job for years they are not a journalist. The journalist I believe deserves the protection as their stories are more publicized, the person could be in danger if they some information was to be shared about who told them about the falsified government document. However, no one is going to listen to the blogger as much about who they heard from.
Scenario Two: A blogger applies to receive press credentials so he can get into a political event. He is denied, because he’s “not a journalist,” even though many reporters are allowed in who have fewer readers than the blogger. Is that fair? Would it matter if, instead of news bloggers and newspaper reporters the same situation arose at a fashion show with a writer for a fashion magazine and a fashion blogger?
I believe this is a fair incident. If a everyone who wanted to go to one of these events was allowed to present themselves as a blogger to be able to go, then everyone in the United States would be able to start a blog and apply to go to the event as a blogger. I believe the same would also be fair in the fashion show event. There has to be some kind of limitations to who qualifies to be a journalist/reporter or anyone and everyone would have to be given the same priveleges as a journalist.

Diigo & Flickr http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=229 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=229#comments Tue, 27 Apr 2010 02:51:04 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=229 Diigo and Flickr are both ways of sharing your personal favorites with others. The only difference is one is to share your favorite websites while the other is to share your favorite photos. I think they are both great tools for people who spend a lot of time on the internet. I personally think that flickr is a better tool, as many more people enjoy sharing their personal photos with others than what they do websites. I have used other websites for photo sharing. The one I am most familiar with is myphotoalbum. This a website that you can buy membership to… I personally think that the free flickr website is just as good. The only advantage to using myphotoalbum is that you can also buy products with your images on them. As for me using flickr and Diigo. I may continue to use flickr. However, Diigo is not something I would see myself using often. Diigo is however a great tool for those people who like to share websites.

Web 2.0 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=227 http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=227#comments Mon, 19 Apr 2010 18:22:49 +0000 admin http://lovearoundtheglobe.com/blog/?p=227 Before starting the class CITS 220 I had never heard the term web 2.0 before. If I were to tell someone who didn’t know what web 2.0 was I would tell them that it is a way to interact with others on the internet. It can include, blogging as well as social networking sites. Social Networking sites can allow you to do some of the following things; talk to others, post pictures to share, share websites that you like, and play games together. Yes I participate in sites that are web 2.0 sites they include; facebook, myspace, my blog, twitter, diigo, linkden, formspring, and
