I’m going to be lonely for the week….

June 15, 2009

So, Mike is leaving in the morning for Sitka. I really wish I could go with him. I love Sitka, and I haven’t been there in awhile. However, I am stuck with working this week. So Mike is going to leave in the morning to go over to the ferry with my dad. Then he will be back on Friday night on the ferry. So until then I will be at home, lonely, with my mom but oh well. This trip to Sitka should open up more opportunities for Mike which is good.
So this week you will be seeing more blogs from me because I promised Mike a blog every day while he was gone.
I also wanted to post on here tonight that I found the picture of Mike, Bryce, Me, and Dick on Anchorage Daily News with Mike’s first Halibut. It was very interesting. I am guessing Bryce must have submitted it. You can view it at
I also ran across this old site of Sam’s that had our old Romania stuff on it… The journal from our group, and some photos and whatnot. I plan to do something with my Romania stuff, and my photos here in a few weeks. It is at I bought Ilife 09 and it sounds like it will have a lot of great options for designing a webpage with that stuff on it. So you can look forward to seeing that. Anyways, I think I am going to head off to bed. Hope you all had a great weekend, and a great week ahead of you. Oh yeah, and we also had two people die this past month in Coffman Cove. Very unusual. It’s kinda sad, as everyone here kinda seems like family because you know them so well.

Anchorage AmeriCorps Training

April 24, 2009

Well, as most of you probably know this past week I have been in Anchorage for AmeriCorps training. The trip has been relatively good. I have really enjoyed it. Michael came with me which has been a great plus. I have been really enjoying the company at night, and whatnot.

Anyways, I first day started off with travel which went really good. Sheffield was a good dog. Which I was highly concerned about him, becuase well I really dont like traveling with the dog. It stresses me the hell out. Lol. Then Mike and I fight and well thats not good. But that didnt happen this time. Instead, I had forgottten I had a Nike plus thing in my shoe, and the security guys were back there really checking it out, and they were all concerned about my shoe having something in it. Anyways, finally mike is like you have that ipod thing in there. So, I asked them if that is what they were seeing and sure enough they took the thing out of my shoe. Then the stupid people had no damn clue what it was….. I couldnt believe they had never seen one. So yea that was a mess.

Then we arrived in Anchorage finally, where I have done a ton of training about energy conservation. Extremely boring things over and over again, but I do have to say that I have learned a lot, and I would like to share some of it with people back in our community or teach some of the kids at school about it. I think it is a great thing to teach people. Afterall, who doesnt want to save money. Also, while we have been here we have gotten to eat at Red Robbin which was fantastic as we both the love the place and havent been able to go there in awhile. Strawberry Lemonade…. Mmm. Anyways, back to the subject. Also, Mike lost his wallet the second day we were here by leaving it in a taxi when he went to buy us some pop. So he had to cancel out all his cards. However, lucky enough the taxi driver did bring back his wallet, which was great considering all the things mike carries in that thing.

Anyways, so now we are on our way home. Which I am extremely excited about being home. We have been sleeping in this room next to a a room with fighting people, and a screaming baby. Very lovely. lol. So yeah I will be happy to get some sleep.

Also, Mike’s birthday is tomorrow so we are going to be staying in Ketchikan and doing some stuff for his birthday. However, I am not completely sure yet. I will have to write again Saturday or Sunday and let you guys know how that went and what we did. I think we are going to be staying at my sisters house, which will be great for my sister. Sometimes I feel like our family needs to spend more time with her.

Well anyways, hope you all have a great weekend and I will update y’all soon on Mike and his birthday extravaganza.

americorps & babies

February 14, 2009

So, I haven’t wrote a blog in awhile and figured…. It was time for ya all an update.
I have been pretty busy working 3 or 4 jobs most of the time. I have been cleaning up our new school getting it ready to move into, subbing at school, subbing at the post office and doing the whole AmeriCorps thing. However, I have been having a lot of trouble getting enough hours for my AmeriCorps job. I am suppose to get 40 hours a week, but I have only been running about 35 hours on average. Which sucks. So if ya all have some ideas on some projects either enviromentally, community wise, or students wise then feel free to comment with some ideas for me. They would be greatly Appreciated.

Right now for AmeriCorps I have started an Archery program with the students and they seemed to really enjoy the first day. We are going to be doing this three days a week. Also, Mike & I have been working together to find out information on some recycling stuff that way we can start that up here in Coffman Cove maybe…. Eventually.

Hmm… What else has been going on in the life of Sabrina and Mike. Oh yeah. I really want a baby. There was a slight scare. But it appears that I am in fact not pregnant so that is good and bad both on the same note. I mean on the good news if I wanted to I could go celebrate my 21st birthday, but then again…. I dont get a baby. What I have been wanting. So its kinda a catch 22 deal either way…. It sucks, and is good. Oh yeah, and our friend george is having a baby… So it would be kinda kool for our kids to grow up together but oh well. It will all work out in due time.

I also looked at the americorps calendar today and it appears that I am going to be gone the week of Mikes birthday & his sisters wedding. So I think Mike is a little bummed about that, but theres really nothing I can do about it. It is in fact beyond my control. However, I feel bad.

I bought me a wii. I think I will love it. However, it still has not come in. Knowing my luck it will come in this coming week and then I will have to wait a week to play it becuase my dad will be home. But oh well.

I am also thinking about getting me a new macbook or maybe a macbook air. But am not sure yet. Also, would get a bigger Ipod right now I have an ipod touch 8 GB And I only have 3 GB of space left or maybe less dont know the exact amount….. So what do you guys think are the two things worth spending the money on?

Well, anyways, I think that is all for now or should be it was quiet a long blog. I will try to update my blog more often with updates and whatnot. Maybe I will try getting some of my famous jokes up to. Hope you all have a good weekend.

The Trip so far….

January 20, 2009

So…. As you all probably know right now I am sitting in Anchorage at the Millenium Hotel, becuase I am at AmeriCorps training for the week. Yesterday, Sunday, I flew up here to Anchorage. Which was a long day. It started out at 5 in the morning driving over to the ferry. Then I went to Ketchikan, walked over to the airport, and then sat there for like 5 hours. Then I flew out of Ketchikan, and was on a plane for five hours. Then finally landed here in Anchorage where I was brought to my hotel. So as you can probably tell that was a long long long boring day.

Then after my long trip here on Sunday, I went to bed. Only to have to wake up at 6:00 this morning to head off to breakfast. Breakfast is 6:30 to 8 every morning:) Then we did some ice breaks with the group of like 38 people, so we could possibly get to know each other. lol. However, out of all those people, I remember very few.
Eddie, Shelby, Donna, Amy, Ami, Rob, Skip, and well that is about it… Lol.
I also knew Liz, Heidi, and Charlie but that doesnt really count becuase I already kind of knew them.
Anyways, then after all of that we went on with a boring day of training. Where we learned about methamphetimines. Which I actually kinda found semi interesting. If it wasnt for me already knowing all the information that was presented. As a few years back I worked with a Methamphetamine Prevention Coalition. But the program lost its funding. Maybe this is something that I could get started back with this whole AmeriCorps program. Huh. Never really thought about that.

Then we learned how to fill out our paperwork. Yah I know boring.

Then. It was to the food bank where we spent from 2:30-5 working sorting out foods. Which was actually really interesting, becuase when I walked in my teacher from highschool who now teaches at the North Pole was there. I was like wow! I haven’t seen her since I graduated from highschool which was like almost 3 years ago. Wow. Time Flies. Anyways, so we talked a lot as you would imagine, of course she wanted to know how her old student and old students were doing and whatnot. So that was fun! I was very excited!

And now…. Well I am just sitting here in the hotel wishing i had someone to talk to… Feel free to add me to messanger…… sabrinaclair@hotmail.com or the_alaskan_angel@yahoo.com or SAMB1208 for Aim or I also have MyspaceIM. So feel free to contact me. Also you can text me at 503-580-7717

Oh yeah and I also decided after a day of being here. That I do not at any point wish to live in Anchorage, Alaska. Smile. Just thought that I would make a note of that. Hope you all are having a good week.
